Silly Bears preview!

I am delighted to be able to reveal the four bears that will be available at Silly Bears Shop in Aberdeen next week. These bears will be available to customers who visit the shop in person as Julieann has organised a special winter event.

You can contact Julieann about the bears if you are planning to attend the event. If they don't get adopted at the event then they will be available on the Silly Bears website.

I am so pleased with this collection which I colour co-ordinated using icy winter shades that will lend themselves to spring summer and autumn too.

The centrepiece of the collection is Lullaby baby who I have been planning for a year. This sweet baby bear has a lovely round tummy, wobble head and can go to sleep on it's tummy just like a real baby. I gave Lullably sleepy leather eye lids to add extra appeal. All the covers, mattress and pillows are matching and I made the patchwork quilt, hand dying each square to tone with the next. The bed was made by my clever husband and we painted it a lovely mousey beige.

I had great fun dressing the two girls, Eugenie and Monique and loved making Henri's outfit which is made from pure wool and cashmere.

Roll on the weekend!!!

I can't wait for the weekend....! I have been so busy these last three weeks I have hardly had time to draw breath!!  I am so happy with the four bears I have just posted off to Silly Bears in Aberdeen. It's a huge thrill for me to know that this weekend my bears will be on display in the shop and available to customers who actually visit the shop in person. Which is great because so often those customers don't get a chance to buy the bears as they are sold on line in the main.

I will reveal the bears as soon as Julieann uploads them to the website. Which may be over the weekend . I have made a very special ensemble piece of which I am very proud as it is the realisation of a little bear that has been on the drawing board for a whole year. When the design takes that long to come to fruition then it's always a huge relief when it all comes together as I planned.

Hello...it's 'Hello Day' ....

Just wanted to say 'HELLO' ...as it's World Hello Day..so 'Hello.....!'

Good for them....good for us!

While I am not known for being a royalist I do think it's great that Prince William is marrying his long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton. Not only is it a refreshing change from all the doom and gloom but I do think it's a good thing for the country.

Royal weddings always help to boost morale..even if you can't stand the royal family it's good for businesses and brings in visitors and creates interest in our country. That has to be a good thing.

So having watched the interview last night I think they seem a happy couple and I hope the have a long an happy life together!

I just hope the press leave them alone!

 

 

And now for something completely different...

Today I was working on my order for Julieann Bruce' fabulous shop, Silly bears of Aberdeen , Scotland.

I love working with Julieann..she gives me great encouragement and that is what every creative person needs. Her shop is the perfect showcase for artists bears as she stocks quality pieces in a range of styles which complement each other. For artists that is the best possible place to sell our designs because customers can get to see our them first hand in a specialist shop.

I always like to push the envelope a bit with each new bear..and though it would be tempting to rest on tried and trusted patterns and designs I took out my pad and pencil and drew a new totally new design which, when finished, is going to be part of the order for Silly Bears.

What is it....?That would be telling...!!

Rosa-Claire....a little bear!

Well, poor old Wilkins didn't find a new home. Two lovely ladies wanted him but in the end it didn't work out.

So sad as it is for Wilkins  I decided to give him a makeover..and he is now a she...!! I remodelled the face and did lots of work around the eyes to give a feminine look. ..and re-named her Rosa-Claire.

I hand dyed a little crocheted coat in a lovely sage green and made a silk bow in the same shade. All in all she's become a very pretty 12.5inch girlie bear, made in straggly gold German mohair. She has wired arms for posing and has cotter pin joints.

Rosa Claire has now been adopted, thanks so much!

 

 

 

 

Miss Kate on a blustery day!

Here is the bear I have been working on for some time now. I called her Miss Kate and I am delighted with how she turned out! Mind you the coat alone took two full days of swearing, I mean sewing!

I am hoping to do more similar bears becaause I totally adore this look ..I know it's fancy but who cares...when I was child I used to look at pictures of clothes like these and wish I could wear them!

Miss Kate was made especially for a collector...I hope she likes her! 
 

 

New bear soon...

I have been working away furiously on two bears this week. One is for a customer but the other will be available for adopyion either tomorrow afternoon of Saturday....

One of those weeks

Is it me or do you find that sometimes life gets in the way. I just can't seem to get anything done this week. It's Wednesday already and two bears are almost done but for some reason these two seem to be taking forever. Not particularly comple bears either but things I normally do with ease are hitting bumps in the road. Like eyes not being level after I thought they were fine...things running out and I didn't realise so I need to order more...Stuff having to be done round the house that can't wait..I am blaming the clocks going back.The darker nights are a pain in the neck too because I have to stop at teatime now. I am all out of kilter.

Am I the only one that hates this time of year?
