Well...dunno if we are mad or not but we've decided to start keeping some chickens. It was when we went to Wales we saw them about the place and thought we could manage 4 or 5 birds.
With all the emphasis on recycling and a greener way of life we think the 'Good Life' is the way forward so we've bought a hen-house. Steve was going to make one but in the end we found one that's a reasonable price ready made that looks just the job.
So next we need to make a run, get all the other stuff..then get some chickens.
Eggs anyone?

We have an Bluebelle, Amber Star and a Skyline, plus a White Star, two Goldlines (brown hens) a Cuckoo Maran, Copper Black Maran. Introducing new hens is rather stressful to be honest, on us as well as the hens! Will drop you an email with more details ;)

We went and picked out five today...we are having 2 red ones ( a red ranger and a Skyline)...a Bluebelle...a black speckledy bibbed one...and an Amber Star. I want a black Orpington and a buff Orpington...but we'll get used to these 5 first. How did yours take to new hens in the flock Sarah?

We've had our first lot of hens a year now! We had five, then another three a couple of months ago. So we now have eight! I warn you, it's totally addictive! If you want any advice, just drop me a line.
