We are TRYING hard to get the new look website up and on-line on Sunday evening, sooner than we had planned. I am starting a new auction for a new design bear on Sunday night at 9pm and so we are doing our level best to get the new website up at the same time...
I am so excited about the new website and hope it will be a big improvement. We certainly need a re-vamp.
I was going through the photos of all the bears I have made as we are redoing the archive..which I have been very remiss about on my website. I was going down Memory Lane seeing some of the older bears once again. The trouble was how do I pick those which we will feature ...it was really hard...I love all the bears and it was so difficult, I can't put them all on there!!
You will be able to judge if I picked the right ones on Sunday!!
I am jumping up and down with excitement. For two reasons...the first is that we are off to Majorca ....whoo-hoo!! ¡Viva España!
More importantly, I have designed a new baby faced bear that I am extremely pleased with. I am eager to show everyone..indeed ..some people have already seen this bear..who has no name yet. I asked the opinion of one or two people (artists in the main) whose opinions I trust and I have had very positive feedback.
I will have to let my collectors be the ultimate judges though...and I won't keep you waiting too much longer, I'll post a picture at the weekend!!
Well apparently my new website is nearly done. YIPPEEEEEEE!! I have no idea what it looks like...or even what colour it is.
That's very funny..because normally I can't keep my nose out of things for five minutes so not to have seen my NEW WEBSITE yet makes me very nervous. But I do trust Wayne to do me a fab one.
It's going to be unveiled after my holiday...so about 3 weeks. I am going to launch it with a couple or three new bears..who aren't even on the drawing board yet so I might be sewing around the pool in Majorca.
Don't you just hate it when the fluff sticks to your suntan lotion?!!
It's not that I want to change tack...in fact quite the oposite..I want to stay in my little niche and not move on but my head is telling me to prove myself again. Everywhere I look I trip over sweet faced bears at the moment. The world and his wife are trying to make them and they are everywhere you look. Some have a look of mine about them and last time I banged on about that I was ticked off about it so the less I say the better on THAT subject. Though I did smile when I read one lady claiming 'copyright' on design and style on her auction...very amusing.
Nope , it's time I got my pen and paper out and made some more changes. Over the years I have evolved the bears subtly and though some might not go for the more sophisticated face I am more satisfied with the general profile and shape and the fact that they have a more grown up expression. I have designed a new head shape..OONA was one of the first , though I did do a lovely panda for my Stratford Fair. I took inspiration from seal pups for the rounder face and harked back to my roots, the big eyes and baby face. I need to make some changes ..and make the bears stand out more ...so my summer is going to be one of design and experimentation..and I am looking forward to it.
I want to make a Three O'clock Puppy Dog..and I am trying to get my dog to sit still so I can draw round her!! Watch this space...and I am hankering after making a realistic bear...maybe a polar...or a panda...who knows.
One things is certain..I can't stand still..it does my head in!!
I am just so flamin' cheesed off tonight. I had planned to post a bear on eBay tonight...but you know how it is...Fathers Day and all that..we had everyone round and I just can't sit and sew and get all my 'stuff' out everywhere..as much as I wanted to. Anyway...I will post him on eBay tomorrow instead..and very pretty he is too.
This is OONA...she is the very first bear cut out by my Dad who, you may recall, stepped very quickly into my mothers old job of 'Chief Cutter Outer'....I sent her picture to my mailing list as she is available for adoption. She has been reserved very quickly , but isn't she lovely!!
NOPE...I am going to make you sweat a WEE BIT longer..but I have now seen two of the wonderful bears for the 'HOPE' BREAST CANCER CARE RAFFLE starting in SEPTEMBER. All I can say that my heart is filled with absolute joy seeing the talent of these clever artists, Yvonne Andrew, Vicky Allum, Melanie-Jayne Culshaw, and Samantha Potter, brought to life in wonderful shades of marvellous PINK!!
I am so delighted and I know you will be too when you see what I can see. I can't wait to start this raffle and I know you will all be keen to be involved this year with such wonderful bears and such a fantastic cause that we ALL care deeply about.
As usual my bear is on it's way to being done and will probably be finished last...but she's looking good!
ROLL ON SEPTEMBER then..and Watch this space AND my website...and the BEAR MAGS for more details!!
I mentioned in my earlier post that my challenge bear, TESS, won her section of the TBAE challenge..well I have managed to salvage this snapshot of her face ...I ran out of time before the fair and was very bad about taking pictures..anyway...here she is...and very pretty she is too..even if I do say so myself!
