Well we finally did it..came last in the Eurovision Song Contest.
It's saying something about my dreary social life lately when I find myself hurrying home from Millsy's..a bar near where we live, armed with fish and chips, to watch Terry Wogan's hilarious reporting of Eurovision.
I have to say it was thoroughly dreadful, with mediocre songs from artists no-one has heard of..well not in my neck of the woods at any rate. It cheesy, it's brash, amateurish even, but it's a must watch. Don't ask me why.
Is it the songs..no..is it the excitement ...no way. It definitely isn't that we are in with a chance of winning..I have concluded that even if we fielded John Lennon we wouldn't win, such is the power of the 'you scratch my back' voting strategy adopted by the countries who enter. We'll never win.
Nope ..I think it's just that it,just like when they used to televise Miss World..it's one of those things you feel you ought to watch. Even though we came last.
