What's happening in the world?
I hope and pray that what we all have suspected about the Shannon Matthews abduction won't turn out to be true but I fear it will. It's a shockingly chilling story of greed and deceit, and one which I feel sure will reveal many other aspects of despicable human failure when the whole truth finally comes out.
What I think is this, how can we ever, with complete certainty, trust anyone who makes these claims again and how can children feel safe, even with their parents, after this? My heart goes out to the McCanns in all of this too as it has seriously deflected attention from making headway on finding Madeleine, or what happemed to her, but honestly, they must wish every single day that they had never left those babies alone on that night nearly a year ago.
Shame on parents who take chances like this, and despite what anyone says about nowadays being far more perilous than 'the good old days' I don't believe for one minute that you ever could leave a child alone while you went out to dinner...there may be a few people out there that would but on the whole most of us are shocked beyond belief that people would even think of doing it.

We don't have children, (just animals!) but the thought of my child/children waking up and finding me not there, just breaks my heart. I'm bad enough if I'm out for the day and haven't said 'bye' to one of the cats because they are sleeping upstairs or something. I'm talking of our Siamese here, he's very clingy and my shadow.
The Matthews case really saddens me. The lengths people will go to because of greed.
Hugs, Sarah x
