Here is my latest bear..this time a gorgeous 16" girl , Miss Eleanor, who I could not resist dressing in the fabulous antique silk hat that I bought last weekend...what a find..and it suits her perfectly too!!
My parents little dog, Katie, has been very ill. She had to go to the vet on Easter Sunday..and with my dad being such an old skinflint I knew she must be bad to go to the emergency vet on a SUNDAY!
It seems she's got something that she may not live through, and my thoughts are with my dad now as he has lived for Katie, and at 84 I am sure they won't have another pet.
I am philosophical about pets these days and I know that she had the life of Riley with my parents and so que sera, sera. I know what ever is the kindest thing will be done. I love animals and my house is upside down because of them, and you know what, who cares if the cat scratches the stool in the bedroom , she gives me so much back and I love them all.
So with little Katie on my mind I am going to start sewing...I hope she is ok, whatever happens. I feel very sad this morning, in spite of myself.
UPDATED TO ADD..Katie has come back home and the vet thinks the tumour might respond to anti-biotics, ie it might not be malignant.. so things are looking a bit less bleak...I am keeping them very tightly crossed now!
This is Little Pearle, one of 3 bears who found new homes within a few minutes of the website update.I am so grateful to all the ladies who got in touch but I am sorry I could not make more bears for the update. I have bears in the pipeline and one for eBay on Sunday. Thanks to Wayne for updating on the dot of 9.30 pm ..he will have his little joke though..I noticed her added 'for about 3 seconds' to the front page update notice. Very funny....Wayne!!
Thanks again for all your interest in the THREE O'CLOCK BEARS...I'll be introducing new bears again very soon.
I have discovered today that you really can have too much of a good thing..ie CHOCOLATE. We had our CHOCOLATE CAKE CHALLENGE today and I am thoroughly ashamed to say that I came next to last after my Mother who predictably brought up the rear in the voting. My cake was horrible though I say so myself was not up to standard. I used a different recipe to my usual tried and trusted one and it was not a good decision. The resultant cake was soggy and too sickly. Mind you after tasting 5 cakes I was feeling decidedly icky.
I definitely can confirm that you can have too much chocolate.
My brother is feeling very smug tonight having scooped the prize followed by my daughter who came in second!!
Well the gloves are off now for our next challenge in the summer which is a bread making one....watch this space!!
I went to the Doll and Teddy fair at the MOTOR CYCLE MUSEUM ,BICKENHILL today. It was so busy we had to push through the crowds. I spent a fortune on wonderul vintage clothes and a the most stunning little hat on the planet!! I am so excited to see a fair so busy and with such a buzz about it. I saw a few artists bears but mainly they were vintage bears and dolls. I am doing this fair in NOVEMBER..I can't wait!!
This used to be a superb fair and then it went off a bit when there was a dreadful fire there and it destroyed the main building and the fair was housed in a huge freezing cold aircraft hangar sized hall. But hats off to the organiser, what a great fair...busy, exciting and full of treasures. The only down side for me was all the prams with fake babies being pushed round the tight gangaways by women with daft looks on their faces...sorry they are just so weird.. I also got a bit fed up with asking how much things were, why don't people put prices on stuff?
I also saw a googly eyed doll who I fell hook line and sinker for but sadly she didn't come home with me...she was so sweet though...hmmmm ...of well better get on...the lunch won't cook itself!!
I'll be updating the website this weekend. I'll be posting details of the exact time as soon as we get organised. I have been working very hard on a new look this week and have 3 very pretty bears. I got my trusty sewing machine back yesterday too so I can get on with the faux fur creations that the old SINGER would not sew.
Now I have to make a cup of tea and sit and stare at the wall for a bit ...sewing makes me so tired at times!!
I am going to work at 7am tomorrow....I don't mind..I do like it really, though I moan every week about this and that. But it's EASTER and it will be so busy I probably won't sit down for 12 hours non-stop!!
On Sunday we are having another of our family Cookery Challenges..this time it's the ' CHOCOLATE CAKE CHALLENGE. I have a secret recipe ....I'll let you know who won!! My sister is taking it a bit too seriously for my liking!!
So I do hope you have a relaxing EASTER and manage to put your feet up and enjoy some time off.
I am looking forward to seeing Olly and Rosie who we haven't seen since he came back from 'down under' . The weather forecast predicts snow but we are hoping for an EASTER EGG hunt in the garden for Rosie and Elizabeth.
I decided to move my blog to TYPEPAD. This is because I was finding the options for displaying pictures a bit limiting and there are far more possibilites with Typepad. I have not scratched the surface of it yet really and will develop it over the next few weeks while I get my head around the new, and slightly more challenging, format.
I am sending about an hour every day on this and keep looking enviously at other peoples blogs who seem to have it all sussed!!! It took me three nights to work out how to put a custom banner up and even then I have changed it about a million times .
Anyway, I hope I can make the blog nice and pretty to look at and hopefully have something to say!!
