According to a reliable source it's summer here today. So..time to put on the old 'cossie' and suntan lotion and get outside and soak up some rays.
Better be quick though , they've forecast rain for the weekend...
The painting is by William Merrit and it's called 'At the Seaside'...isn't it wonderful!!
This is Little Luca...he's a sweet 10 inch bear who can stand as well as sit. If you'd like to know more why not visit his auction
Even a hairdresser has bad hair days...in FACT it's worse...because you can't CUT your own hair properly so you have to trust somebody to do it for you...which for a control freak like me is a nightmare experience!!
Lately though my hair has looked dry and horrible ...and I am a person who uses good shampoo and has spouted on about not using silicone based conditioners for yonks and so I have been an AVEDA freak for ages. But what happened...why suddenly did my hair go flat and dull and unmanageable?
Then I went a seminar on clipper cutting a few weeks ago and was given a free sample of some JOICO K-PAK shampoo which sat in the cupboard because I ONLY use Aveda. When I went to Spain I took the Joico as it was a tiny bottle that fitted in my luggage...
As if by magic my hair is back to normal..well better than normal. It's quite shiny and has loads of bounce back. So here's me telling all my clients it's utter twaddle that your hair can get too much of one shampoo and now I think it's very probably true!! So girls..( I'm not on commission..honest...we don't even sell this stuff in the salon either) get some Joico...it's an arm and a leg but my husband even said I looked nice...
On second thoughts maybe that's the H cup Bravissimo bra he was looking at....
Here are two new girl bears available for adoption. They are Sweet Josie pictured left who is 13 inch bear and is designed to stand. She's ade from curly kid mohair in a toffee shade, ahe has wired arms and she has a delightfully sweet face which I have spent lots of time sculpting an shading to create a sweet expression. She is earing a beige and oatmeal wool coat which has been hand knitted.
Tabitha Jane is a 12" bear and is wearing a grey and cream coat similar to Josies. She is designed to sit and also has wired arms . She also has a sweet facial expression.
Both have cotter pin joints and sculpted paws, glass eyes with eye lids and feature hand detailing
BOTH BEARS HAVE NOW BEEN ADOPTED, thank you
TABITHA-JANE (below)

IZZY WHIZZY LET'S GET BUSY.....Would you believe SOOTY is 60 today!! I used to love Sooty...well let's get that right I loved the SOOTY SHOW as a child, I preferred SWEEP to SOOTY by a mile...but my favourite was Butch the dog and Ramsbottom the snake! Did anyone, like me, absolutely HATE it when SOO came on the scene?
Several years ago we took the children to Cromer and watched Harry Corbett do an 'end of the pier' Sooty Show while we were there...don't know who laughed more, us or the kids. So clever to entertain all the adults in an audience AND keep the kids happy... with glove puppets..pure genius.
BYE BYE EVERYBODY....BYE BYE!!
It seems my blog is one bit of sad news after another lately. But I am unbelievably sad to write today that my sisters best friend Julia, who she did her nurse training with 30 years ago, died at 3am this morning aged just 50. Julias wonderful knitted coats and cardigans have been worn by may a Three O'Clock Bear. Her knitting was so neat and she was so clever with her hands. My mother used to get quite jealous when I praised Julias knitting skills because though my mum could knit nicely I have more cobbled cardi's in my drawer that my mother messed up than I dared to tell her about. So when Julia offered to do some knitting for the bears I was delighted. She knitted things right up to about 3 months ago and I still have a few of them. She used to sell her knitting on eBay and such was her popularity that her little knitted doll sets would go all over the world.
I know my sister will miss her good friend, but the last twelve months , since she was diagnosed with lung cancer, have been so terrible for Julia and her young family of three boys, watching her deteriorate and suffer dreadfully, as she did in the end. So her death, though sad is a release from pain.
The picture shows LITTLE PEARLE, a sweet girlie bear wearing one of the little coats that Julia knitted for the bears.
I hope that when the new website is done( HA!!) I can launch it with some new bears. I got back down to business yesterday and I stitched up two..and today I should manage another two. I tend to sew up a few and then work on each one individually...that gets the least interesting bit out of the way in one go. I will be putting a new bear on eBay on Sunday night, fingers crossed too and will send out a eMail-shot to the mailing list nearer the time.
Just in case you were wondering , we are still not done with the new website. Poor Wayne has been ill for a fortnight with a terrible eye infection and on top of that his computer has totally died...
I am not saying another word till it's totally done now...the less I say the better I suspect!
Elizabeth...my eldest grand-daughter ( aged three) can occassionally be a bit picky about eating her vegetables, so as a ploy to entice her to eat them my daughter has told her that if she wants to be big enough to go on the rides at Disney World , where we are all going after Christmas, she will have to eat all her vegetables up.
So this is a regular thing and when she's not eating them she will normally be encouraged by saying that she still needs to grow a bit more and one little bite of carrot or brocolli might help.
Anyway, yesterday she came to my house, they were off on a 'pic-mick' , well so Elizabeth told me. She proudly showed me all the food in the picnic box and then got out a box of Marks and Spencer chocolate tea-cakes saying, ' I have to eat these so I'll be big enough for Disneyland'
Reckon that sounds like a good plan for me too!!
