How does HE know...?

A senior male midwife has advocated that women should not have epidurals because he thinks experiencing pain helps you be a 'better mother' .

For a start of....what a nerve...he might be there when women are giving birth but he can't know what it feels like. Watching Wimbledon doesn't make you into a tennis player.

I also think each woman experiences childbirth in their own way. I never even got offered an epidural 30 odd years ago when I had my babies...but though I love my children I can't say I got much mileage from EXPERIENCING PAIN...

Men...what do they know?

Whipping it out...

I ended up in hospital the other night after I had DREADFUL abdominal pain...and I can say it was dreadful because I have given birth twice and it almost rivalled that in it's severity. I am not a person with a low pain threshhold...but I could neither lie down, sit or stand with this pain. I have had this pain about 4 times before...but because I always think, 'it'll be nothing,' (I walked round on a broken leg for 3 weeks before i went to the doctor) but this time I KNEW I had to get to hospital.

After a SHED LOAD od tests the finally diagnosed cholecystitis...inflamation of the gall-bladder caused by a series of gallstones. I am waiting for 'things to settle down' and have to go in for my gall bladder to be whipped out.

Do you know...I am beginning to wonder if I'll ever get to the end of this run of 'stuff' happening to me. I don't want ANY of it...I just want to get on with sewing my bears.

HEY-Ho.....I guess that's life!!

Busy bees...

 Bee

Unlike me...who can't seem to get moving today..while I sat outside I noticed the bees busily collecting pollen. What a shame that we are told that if we don't plant more flowers and give bees places in which to collect pollen they will die out.

I love bees, in fact Steve was seriously thinking of starting to keep bees but after looking into it we decided it would be too time consuming now...maybe in the future. Fortunately our garden is a haven for bees as if is full to the brim with flowers and fruit trees. I never understand why people flatten their gardens with slabs and decking. As fair as I am concerned you can't ever have too many flowers!!

Michael Jackson Memorial

I tearfully watched the memorial for Michael Jackson last night and thought it was unexpectedly low key and warm. Even if you aren't a fan I fail to see how anyone could not be moved by the sight of his lovely children.

One of the speakers said to the children, 'Your father was not odd, it was odd what happened to him'  and I think he's right. I am not sure what to think about Michael Jackson...I am not a 'no smoke without fire' person though I do believe he made serious errors of judgement in his life. But that life, under that spotlight and that scrutiny from such a young age would take it's toll on anyone.

One thing goes without saying though, in my lifetime I suspect that there will not be another musical genius that could even come close to his talent, innovation and ability to entertain.

Michael is 'moonwalking' in heaven now and I hope he finally finds peace.

Just an eensy WEENSY piece of cake...

Here are our dogs, Lottie, Lizzie and Zoe desperately trying to snaffle a chunk of the cake Steve is eating on his break from working. I am pleased to report that they did get a tiny taste each!!

Whooo-hoooo.... we're back!!!

In case you didn't notice we've been off gadding in Majorca for 9 days. I fell in the bath in the dark not wanting to switch on the light on the bathroom in the middle of the night and missed the loo and landed upside down in the tub...I have a huge bruise on my arm to prove it. Had a bust-up with the check-in person at Palma airport today and almost got into a spot of bother....therein lies a tale...but suffice it to say that we misunderstood the luggage allowance and had no hand luggage whatsoever but had 2 kilos each over weight in the cases but they wouldn't allow us to transfer some into hand luggage...to be honest it would have saved all the hassle had we understood that the hand luggage allowance is separate BEFORE we arrived at the airport. Anyway...I was calm ...till they made my sister...who had ditched all her toiletries to lighten her case, fish it all out of the bin where she deposited it....despite the fact that we weren't then expecting to carry it on board and someone had vomitted in the bin. Totally our fault about the rules but do they need to be so aggressive and RUDE..I really don't think so.

They'll be hearing from me...let's just say BMI Baby has a BIG thumbs down from me...NEVER again.

We had a fab time though...really...now I am back and raring to get sewing!!!

Here's us on our hols!!

Steve and I having a walk...and Steve with his suntan...he's got olivey skin so he goes brown really quickly!

This was us having cocktails ....followed by the view from our room...which was breath-taking!!

It's a sad, sad day for the world

Jackson-michael-photo-michael-jackson-6205114 The magic of Michael Jackson has gone forever, he'll never sing again. I think it's an absolute tragedy that this genius lived such a short life and in such a troubled way. I think it's case of now we'll always remember where we were when we heard that Michael Jackson died.

I hope he'll be remembered for his music and not all the tabloid trash that dogged his life in his latter years. He was bigger and better that all of that.

SOFTLY the TEDDY

This is 'SOFTLY'... a real 'proper teddy'...he's about as near as I get to a traditional ted and a real joy to make. I love this one..his face is so sweet  and childlike yet he has that forlorn look of old teddies. I am not getting into ditstressing fabric and all that stuff because I believe that with age they aquire that look..and each teddy deserves a bit of 'YOUTH' don't you think?

Softlyscopy

He is made from English mohair and has that 'scraggledy' look ..but he has a sweet face too..and legs that I designed so he can perch cheekily on a box or a shelf.CONTACT ME if you'd like to adopt this sweet boy bear..SOFTLY the TEDDY HAS NOW BEEN ADOPTED, SORRY.

Shoes..and more shoes.

After years of living in flat shoes I discovered , due to my tendon problem in January ..I am MUCH better off in a heel. So I have found a new joy in buying shoes!!

Since losing weight I have lost flab off my feet too...(typical...rear end is still like a cart horse but my feet are slim as anything!!) so I had a great time this morning getting some shoes that fit...and a lovely pair of snazzy heels...Watch out world!!
